I'm just loving this show! I actually like the show better than the book -- which is highly unusual for me. The difference is that they've softened Dexter's rough spots (euphemism for his lust for killing ) a bit for TV, and I prefer him that way. And of course Julie Benz is terrific.
So far I've only read the one book, "Darkly Dreaming Dexter." There are two others in the series.

I absolutely love this show! I was going to read the books, but watched the show instead. I think the third book wasn't as good or went in a different direction than the series. Are you watching the edited version? I haven't seen how it looks edited for network tv.

We're watching the edited version on CBS. I mainly watched the first episode because I knew Julie Benz was in it, but I was hooked immediately. I'd love to watch the original episodes, guess I'll have to get in on DVD, unless a certain someone already has it and can make me copies .

It's great, isn't it? I'm interested in seeing the differences between the Showtime version and what we've been watching on CBS. Occasionally you can tell where the language has been edited, but my understanding is that some of the blood and guts have been edited out of the CBS version, as well.
I bought the 2nd book, Dearly Devoted Dexter, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

I only saw some of Six Feet Under, and did not care for Michael Hall then, but I adore him as Dexter.

I'm half-way through Disc Two (of Four) of Season One and I'm working on "acquiring" Season Two.

I'm now on Disc 3 so I'm ahead of where NBC is. I SOOOO had the real Ice Truck Killer pegged as soon as I saw him.

So did we ... and it's CBS.
Just finished the 2nd book, Dearly Devoted Dexter. Liked it better than the 1st.

Does that mean you are both done with the season? I don't want to spoil anything.

Don't tell me; although having read the books, I suspect I know what the twist is, the TV show has been just enough different from the books that I can't be sure.

I won't say a word. I managed to "procure" Season Two and am watching the 1st episode as I type.
