Detective Mars.
Wow.
Someone spent a lot of time coming up with a meaningful name for that character. "What, the actor's name is Marsters? Let's call him Detective Mars, then. Hand me another beer."

Adam Baldwin stars tonight in the new series "Chuck," on NBC. Sadly, he goes up against the season 3 premiere of HIMYM. Bummer, because Chuck looks pretty good. Hurry up and get that homemade TIVO built, Ratboy!

I liked Chuck. It's a little out there, but it was entertaining, and AB was great as a goverment agent. In other news, Mercedes McNab, better known as Buffy/Angel's Harmony, will once again don fangs to play a vampire in an upcoming episode of The CW's Supernatural. LINK

I'd really like to see "Chuck," but I'm addicted to HIMYM. That's the one drawback to satellite: you can't watch one channel while recording another on the vcr -- or if you can, I don't know how to do it.

Watched the pilot episode of Dexter last night (we had DVRed it from a couple of nights ago on CBS). It was pretty good. Julie Benz was terrific, as always; I didn't much care for the actress who played Dexter's sister; the rest of the cast, including the guy who plays Dexter, was fine.
The premise is that Dexter Morgan is a serial killer who also works for the police as a forensic scientist. Clearly, he has a special insight into the minds of serial killers. The hook is that he uses his power only for good -- that is, he only murders other serial killers whom the police can't get the goods on.
Apparently this is part of CBS's "strike strategy," as Dexter is a Showtime Original Series. I also noticed, at the end of last night's show, that we are encouraged to catch "all new episodes of Dexter this fall on Showtime!" That means we'll get hooked on it while it's on CBS this spring, and then have to buy a Showtime package next fall. Sneaky devils.

Mark Sheppard had a guest role on USA Network's In Plain Sight last night. He played a sleazy drug dealer ... not far from Badger, in fact. Mousehouse and I stumbled onto the pilot episode of In Plain Sight by accident, and haven't missed an episode since.
