With the premiere just over a week away, the reviews are already starting to appear. This first one is not favorable- From The Hollywood Reporter- Full StoryI'm looking forward to it, though I am leery due to how much of the story is going to have to be cut out.

I remember when I finished reading GoF, how I knew they were going to cut cut cut it down. OotP was not as fun to read, so it's not going to be as fun on the screen. Here's where I start to understand other fans who get mad at people that review films without possibly knowing what the book version is like. The Potter books get darker and darker as they go. I shudder to think that the new one will have any time for fun, but have faith in JKR.

Dan Radcliffe is going to be on Larry King Wednesday 9pm (EDT) Since it's the release day of the movie, I thought I'd post it here.

I unexpectedly went to see OotP on Wed. We really enjoyed it, and I felt it was better than the book, which is what I hoped for! Really loved the fight scenes, Dumbledore v. Voldermort was better than most lightsaber duels.

Just have to rub it in: mousehouse, myself, and the 2 mousettes saw the movie in IMAX 3-D! It's good to be in Dallas.
I enjoyed the movie. I thought they did a good job hitting the high spots of the book. I suspect that someone who had not read the book would have trouble following some of the story lines, but for a true fan it was a good movie.
As for the 3-D, it began with the flight from Hogwarts to the Ministry on the Thestrals, and continued to the end of the climactic battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort. It was pretty neat; the Thestrals looked like they were flying right up into our seats.
Bought "The Deathly Hallows" Sunday afternoon; only read the first two chapters so far. It's good to be in Dallas, not so good to be having to do schoolwork when Harry Potter is waiting to be read.

IMax 3D has to be great! Never even seen an Imax at all yet. We are going to see King Tut's stuff in Philly but are not springing for the Imax movie, I think we can change our minds while we're there. I just wish for $32.00 per adult, we were actually going to see Tut!
I took my 6 year old to see OotP at the drive in. I think in the car with me, she wasn't as scared. I wasn't going to take her to it, but I saw it first and knew what might scare her. Our Library has a Harry Potter birthday celebration this weekend, we went last year and had a blast!!! This is when it's helps to have a kid to share this stuff with!!

I have now seen OotP. I thought they boiled down the essence of the book fairly well. That being said, I only thought it was ok. While there were some humorous moments and quite a few scary moments, it seemed kind of "blah" in a lot of places.
With that being said, you know I'll buy it on DVD when it comes out.

*Looks at above post* Yep. Five moths later and guess what I bought today. ;D OotP also marks a DVD first. The disc also includes a digital version that you can play on your computer, iPod, or generic portable video player.

I saw that too! Did you try to download it yet? I won't have time until this weekend or so. I thought that was pretty cool.
