Coming to BBC America in August!
BBC America acquired a show it describes as “Jurassic Park” meets “Doctor Who.”
The series, “Primeval,” a hit in the U.K., will start airing on the cable channel in August. BBC America has acquired two seasons of the series, the first with six one-hour episodes, the second with seven episodes.
“‘Primeval’ is a perfect addition to our successful Saturday night menu of sci-fi and adventure,” said Garth Ancier, president of BBC Worldwide America. “‘Torchwood’ and ‘Robin Hood’ have done a tremendous job at the core of our schedule, building ratings and attracting younger viewers to BBC America. We think our audience will be excited by the addition of this prehistoric thriller, one of the latest big hits from the U.K.”
In the series, an evolutionary zoologist discovers prehistoric creatures living in the present day because of unexplained holes in the fabric of time that allow dinosaurs to escape the past. The zoologist and his team try to keep their horrific discovery secret. Meanwhile, he’s dealing with the fact that his wife, believed to be dead, has actually been traveling in the past and may have answers to what’s going on.
“Primeval” is an Impossible Picture production for ITV, distributed by BBC Worldwide.
