Being a Minear fan from Angel, Firefly, & the short lived Drive, I decided to check out one of his other works, Wonderfalls, which had a short 13-episode run on FOX in 2004.
Wonderfalls is the story of Jaye Tyler, a young 20-something underemployed underachiever who, much to her well-to-do family's chagrin, lives in a trailer park and works at a Niagara Falls gift shop.
After a nearly choking to death by the Maid of the Mist wishing pool, she finds that inanimate objects can suddenly talk to her, guiding her to do things for others to change their lives for the better.
I just finished the first disc. Not Minear's best, but so far I like it. It's strange and quirky and the characters are enjoyable. So far, it's worth a watch.

Just finished the series. Turns out it's quite good. Only 13 episodes, but it actually ends well instead of feeling like it just... stops. Jaye Tyler has to be one of the most unlikeable lead characters I've ever seen. She's guided by objects to do good, but she does so very begrudgingly, whining and complaining all the while. However, she's SO unlikeable, she's "likable". This short-lived Tim Minear series is definitely worth watching.
