The Golden Compass- Not as bad as I head it was. Not a fan of Nicole Kidman, but she didn't drive me crazy. The special effects were great. The story was a little lacking in places and it ends pretty open ended, but a good watch otherwise.

That's funny. I'm going to try to watch that this weekend. It's been sitting here for over a week. I just watched Sunshine. Liked it up until the near end, kinda felt like an unexpected turn. Actually, I fastforwarded some of the "suspenseful" stuff at the end. I don't think I've done that with a movie in a long time.

I felt the same way about "Sunshine." Liked it okay for the first 3/4ths of the movie, hated the last 1/4th.

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem
Finally got around to watching this on PPV. Mainly it was just an excuse to show off more Aliens and have a huge body count. The plot was lame -- well, the plot for the humans was lame. I never really understood the friendship between the sheriff and the guy just released from prison -- and why was he in prison, anyway? The bit about the younger brother and the rich girl and her boyfriend was just teeny-bopper stuff; frankly, it was done better in Animal House with Otter, Mandy, and Greggie.
I think it would have been better if they had told more from the Predator's point of view. He was the real hero of the story.

Last weekend the 7 year old and I watched, Raiders of the lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. She liked them, don't know if we'll take her to the new one, because I want to enjoy it w/o having to take her on bathroom trips.
Possibly going to Prince Caspian right now.

I watched Temple of Doom over the long weekend. I had forgotten how great the opening action sequence is.
I also watched -
Star Trek - The Motion Picture
Star Trek II - The Wrath of Kahn
Cloverfield
Clan of the Cave Bear
Ghost

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- It was okay but not as good as I had hoped. I didn't think it captured the feel of the first three. And the story was a bit "out there" (no pun intended) .

This week I've watched-
Star Trek III, Star Trek IV, and Meet the Spartans.
Spartans was funny for what is was, but the homoerotic jokes wore a little thin. Yes, we get it. Move on already. ;D

Just watched 10,000 B.C.. It was okay for what it was. Most of the CG looked pretty good, but some looked just plain awful.

I watched Rambo last night, because I'll watch anything with Julie Benz in it.
Conclusion: I wish she hadn't been in it.

Have you seen Jawbreaker? She's in that.
This weekend I watched-
Be Kind Rewind- Good, but not as good as I expected it to be.
Charlie Bartlett- A bit unfocused at times, but pretty good and the cast was great.
Futurama- The Beast with a Billion Backs- It's Futurama, what more can I say?
Ice Men- Not a bad little Canadian flick.

WantedThis was a pretty good movie. Lots of action and violence; I like that. The plot twist at the end was good -- I had heard something about it, but wasn't exactly sure what it would be. And of course Angelina Jolie.

Superhero Movie- About what you'd expect. It was worth a few laughs.
Starship Troopers III - Marauders- Not as good as the first one, but much better than the second.

Star Wars- Clone Wars- I thought it was pretty good. If you view it with the mindset that it's an animated movie aimed at kids. But what was up the that "Truman Compote"-esque Hutt?
Hellboy II: The Golden Army- It had a different tone than the first one, but I still liked it despite what others have said. Not sure it was worth me buying it, but I'd definitely recommend friends to give it a rent.

Last night, I watched Repo! The Genetic Opera starring Buffy own Giles, Tony Head. Very strange movie.
Its central story-
Did I mention it's a musical? With Paris Hilton? It's kind of like a strange cross between Blade Runner and Sweeney Todd. You'll either think it's pretty cool or you'll hate it. I like it.
